That Road to Mandalay

By Doug Siva

A monk was killed today

On that road to Mandalay

A holy man he was

He stood up for a cause

That you and I hold dear

Yet we do not have to fear

To act and speak so free

We have this guarantee

In our country where we live

But for him he had to give

His life was all he had

To rid his world of bad

Injustice hunger and strife

For this he gave his life

Let’s help to set them free

For us with democracy

It’s everyone’s birthright

Yet for some they have to fight

And to pay the ultimate price

Just for a bowl of rice

I ask you is this fair

So show that you truly care

And help them to be free

Just like you and me

Walk that road to Mandalay

Let’s make it happen today

thank you for that eye opening poem, I hope those who read it understands the struggle of others and how just our voice alone will help save lives. I hope those who read it choose to 'use their liberty to promote ours'. I am so hopeful to see such support my country and my people are receiving. I thank you for all of your efforts. I will post this on my blog as well so the world can see what Doug Siva sees and understands. I thank you from the bottom of my heart Mr. Siva.
Love,

10/19/07: I did a google search, without any qualifiers, on ticketsupport@beijing2008.cn. Read the fourth entry (an anonymous post on craigslist.org). Quoting from the presumed inspiration for that anonymous post: "Shall we work together and show to CHINA what is the real power of people all over the world?" Try the same search on yahoo ... I wonder what the other engines show.
