I only want to ask ONE QUESTION to the Tatmadaw, When cyclone Nargis hit the delta and Rangoon with 120 miles an hour force , hundreds of thousands of people died instantly and millions went homeless, foodless, lost if family members, almost like the world around them shattered. Myanmar has never seen such a natural disaster in it's living memory. In such situation, I did not see many soldiers came out to help the survivors.WHERE WERE THE 500,000SOLDIERS? All over Rangoon, I only saw monks from various monasteries help clearing the fallen trees. In delta region the survivors were given food and shelter by the monks in every town. We have half a million soldiers but where are they? They were only seen on TV unloading the international aid materials from the air planes in their smartly pressed uniforms, storing away the goods in military warehouses. There shoes never touched the muddy fields of delta. They are dry under nice tents with water purification plants donated by SHELTER BOX, while the cyclone victims are under the flimsy, make-shift shelters using plastic sheets, half-soaked. No wonder the soldiers love their AhBaGyi Than Shwe, as they are the total "beneficiaries" of Cyclone Nargis at the cost of millions of ordinary citizens in Irrawaddy delta. After ONE MONTH since the cyclone, Than Shwe allowed ONE HELICOPTER from UN to enter the country. Only on the 6th of June that only helicopter was allowed to fly to the delta. VERY CARING GOVERNMENT WE HAVE. Don't we?
