SINGAPORE AMBASSADOR DONATES THE MONEY

It is a shame to read in Burmese news papers (Date: 24.09.08) that Republic of Singapore Ambassador for Burma H.E. Mr. Robert Chua Hian Kong and Singapore Association of Myanmar (SAM) Chairman Mr. Teddy Choo hand-out the donation to the most notorious drugs trafficker family member in Naypyitaw.

SAM makes the donation of 4.5million kyat to Maternal and Child Welfare Association. Vice President of MCWA Dr. Daw Tin Linn Myint receives the money. She is a wife of Lt. General Ye Myint (rumor said he was sacked but then reinstated) and mother of drugs trafficker Aung Zaw Ye Myint.

Aung Zaw Ye Myint was arrested recently and caught with vast amount of drugs and some tablet making machines together with different kinds of chemical in premise of his resident. The case was later turn out as leading businessman and crony of ruling generals Maung Weik as prime accused but Aung Zaw Ye Myint name was nowhere to find.

In junta’s chief Than Shwe’s grandson drugs abuse case, Home affairs Minister Maj. Gen. Maung Oo and Police Chief Brig. Gen. Khin Yee need to name the main culprit but want to save real criminal Aung Zaw Ye Myint because he is a son of their junta member so Maung Weik became a scapegoat. It was learnt through the grapevines of junta and cronies inner circle families.

Many Burmese families are deeply in trouble because of drugs abuse and drugs related cases and most of the victims are women and children. So call Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association is meaningless, disqualify and just only a showcase of junta’s wives propagandas association. Instead of doing welfare for needed people, entertainment money use for junta’s wives is enormous and they only struggle to include their photo in newspaper so as to say they are working.

It was believed that Lt. Gen. Ye Myint is a leading person involved in junta’s sideline business of smuggling drugs inside and outside of the country. This is a reason why Ye Myint is still not totally kicked out. He may not be in active post to show international communities that no drugs related person in their organization but he is still holding the Lt Gen. Post and member in Military Advisory Council to conduct the drugs smuggling activities. This is a obvious reason why his wife Dr. Daw Tin Linn Myint still in position of Vice President in MCWA

Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Burma should know all about Lt. Gen. Ye Myint and his drugs related family. They also should know why Ye Myint is still in position. He is the main connection for drugs business in and out of country. Junta can’t abandon him.

Singapore is admired as a world leading country of fighting the drugs and now their country’s representative is in situation of donating money to MCWA so he is to shake hand with drugs related family member. This is a shame for Singapore government and disappointing for those who against the drugs and supporting the policy of Singapore’s stance on fighting drugs.
