We just got phone call with our sister living in Yangon about a few hours ago.

We saw on BBC world, saying that 200 monks were arrested. The true picture is far worse!!!!!!!!!

For one instance, the monastery at an obscure neighborhood of Yangon, called Ngwe Kyar Yan (on Wei-za-yan-tar Road, Yangon) had been raided early this morning.

A troop of lone-tein (riot police comprised of paid thugs) protected by the military trucks, raided the monastery with 200 studying monks. They systematically ordered all the monks to line up and banged and crushed each one's head against the brick wall of the monastery. One by one, the peaceful, non resisting monks, fell to the ground, screaming in pain. Then, they tore off the red robes and threw them all in the military trucks (like rice bags) and took the bodies away.

The head monk of the monastery, was tied up in the middle of the monastery, tortured , bludgeoned, and later died the same day, today. Tens of thousands of people gathered outside the monastery, warded off by troops with bayoneted rifles, unable to help their helpless monks being slaughtered inside the monastery. Their every try to forge ahead was met with the bayonets.

When all is done, only 10 out of 200 remained alive, hiding in the monastery. Blood stained everywhere on the walls and floors of the monastery.

Please tell your audience of the full extent of the fate of the monks please please !!!!!!!!!!!!

'Arrested' is not enough expression. They have been bludgeoned to death !!!!!!

(I got this from comment)

3,000 join Burma protest in London - 30 Sep 2007

Around 3,000 people have joined a protest in London today, the biggest demonstration for Burma in the UK so far.

As with the protests in Burma, the internet played a key role in the London protest. Inspiration for the march came from Mike Stone, who called for a solidarity walk in Central London on the website Facebook. The march was organised the Burmese Democratic Movement Association, a Burmese community organisation, with the support of Burma Campaign UK.

"Something urgently had to be done to support the monks," said Mike Stone. "We need to show our support to the people on the streets of Burma."

Protestors marched from Trafalgar Sq, to Downing Street, then past the Foreign Office and British Parliament to the Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park, next to the River Thames.

"People in Burma are suffering and dying," said Ko Aung of the Burmese Democratic Movement Association. "The international community should take action. We have been suffering for more than four decades, we cannot keep suffering, we need action."

Tomorrow demonstrators will converge on the German Embassy, calling on Germany to stop blocking EU economic sanctions. On Saturday 6th October there will be an international day of action, with marches and protests. A non-stop vigil is also being held outside Parliament.

Netizens all over the world support the peaceful revolution in Burma.
We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. Bloggers and Webmasters are planning to close down their Blogs and Websites on October 4th and just post one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!“.

Please visit our campaign site and join the protest: Free Burma!

Dear all

I hope that the protest can have succeed in changing Burma and avoid ending like in the tragic 1988.
However, reading different posts and also articles in newspapers I have noticed that there is little or none information about the terrible conditions of the Burmese Muslim minority. I hope that this revolution can bring freedom and justice to them as well.
I have written, if you are interested, a post on the topic
Best wishes
Gabriele

2nd post for me here...
Worldwide demonstrations are such a positive thing for this Burma situation...
I anyway hope this whole crisis won't endup with some diplomatic words like "Myanmar junta agreed on a democracy roadmap within the next xxx years..." or like "border countries agreed on supporting steps towards democracy in Myanamr..."
This military junta MUST be taken off its power by a UN intervention with troops and political advisories.
In year 2007, with instant i-reports throught the internet, International community simply cannot pretend to be "blind".
Peace all

I wonder what happened to the monches. All I could find was that they went back to their monastaries and sure, that the monastaries are surrounded by soldieres. Is this the whole truth?
One more thing. I feel a little helpless. With the internet we get a lot of information but at the same time I feel myself very mightless because I cannot do much. All I can do is to support simons idea a close down my blog on october 4th.

Thank you for keeping us up to date with the news. I really appreciate your efforts.

My heart is breaking and I feel so helpless. You are so brave and I wish that I could join you. Stay strong and stand tall.

Even though I can't be there in body, I stand beside you in my spirit.

What else can I say or do? I do not know. But this I do know.....
In the next couple of generations, there is going to be a lot more cockcroached...and a new breed at that. They will all be kakhi green with red sripes around their necks!!

Gabriele...a democratic Burma will mean freedom from persecution and oppression for all Burmese and ethnic groups, not just Buddhists, but Moslem & Christian as well.

My God bless every one of these brave people and bring them freedom & Justice.

FREE BURMA!!!

Blessings
Ngu Wa

Hello dear readers,

Today I received an e-mail from Shirley Blair, who runs the school in Nepal for which my website (www.georgianicols.com) raises money. The e-mail is from a monk who details tragic news from Myanmar (Burma).

It is almost impossible for information to get out of the country. I am sending you this message in the hopes that someone can help get this news into the media. (I have already sent this e-mail to the papers and magazines I deal with.)

Sincerely,
Georgia Nicols

I had a crazy idea that also may sound stupid to some (probably many) of you. But I hope Ko Htike will find it worth trying for the revolution going on in Burma and will tell his informants about it.
The military shots in the crowd and they throw back stones. It's the wrong way. With doing that they make it even easier for the soldiers to shot again and to kill. To see the demonstrators as enemies. The demonstrators have to make them their friends. To bring them tea or food, chocolate or cigarettes or whatever comes to their minds (And I hope no civilist will be shot by trying to bring the soldiers something). By doing that they will make them their friends. And how can you shot at your friends?
I have seen the pictures on your side, Ko Htike, and I read the news about all the cruel things going on in your home country. I know how hard it must be to act like this. But I still believe that violence can only be overcome by peace and hate by love.

With regard to the march that was held in london. I'm not sure how it was reported on international news and the world service but they reported it on UK news as a march of "Burmese exiles". This is a misrepresentation. I am British and I was on the march and at least half the people weren't Burmese - you should know this because we did it partly to demonstrate that the Burmese have support from other people. It was a march by Burmese exiles AND other people living in Britain. I hope that at the very least, this can give moral support to people in Burma. But I'm still hugely disappointed by the behaviour of the international community and feel that the best hope for the Burmese people lies in their own hands. They surely MUST keep demonstrating on the streets in Burma to maintain pressure and keep themselves in the news.
