Please Help Monks!!!!!!!!!!

Reports emerging from Rangoon indicate that the temporary detention
centres based in Yangon Institute of Technology and General Institute
of Technology (GTI) is currently detaining 500 hundred monks.

The monks are refusing to accept Sune (Alms food.....food offering given to monk
by layperson just before 12 noon as main meal of the day) from the
military junta. The local population approached these detention
centres to offer food and they have been turned away by the
authorities. Technically, the monks are unintentionally on huger
strike.

We contacted the International Red Cross's (ICRC) office and UNHCR in
Rangoon. The UN's office refused to help and ICRC bucked the
responsibility on their head office in Geneva.

Please write or Phone to ICRC, e-mail Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister
Gordon Brown. Every governments contribute funds in the running of
the UN bodies and therefore you persuade the PM and the Foreign
Secretary to pressure the UN organisations to take action on or least
ask them if they provide value for money service to the world
humanity.

Please be professional when writing to PM Gordon Brown and Secreatarty
. You can thank the British Government for their efforts so on Burma
and persuade them succinctly with sound arguments. Contact details

Definition of Terrorist?

One who leads an armed group that kills civilians as a means of political intimidation.

That is what current Myanmar Military Government is.

Thanks for keeping us informed. I had also read that the junta were blocking the delivery of RC food. It's still worth writing to our governments so people see we are concerned.

Dear Ko Htike
I do so appreciate you keeping us up to date on these horrific happenings and the valliant efforts of the Burmese people to gain their freedom from oppression.
However, a lot of posts I assume are in Burmese as they show up just as squares on my screen. Occasionally there will be an English word such as Junction 8 in the post above.
Would it be at all possible for you to translate these posts, so that ones like me that don't have Burmese characters or don't speak Burmese, to know what is happening.

Thanks again for your great work.
Blessings.

HI Ngu Wa,
Ko Htike is doing fine so far, usually when he gets a chance he translates the many ????. So far it has been an enormous effort from Ko which is much appreciated as he is running this site on his own. Please come back in a while and you might see the important news translated otherwise check the other sites as most of the blogs are cross referencing... Hav a good day...

Ngu Wa said...

Thanks Jeg,
I did not trealize that he was translating them, as I have no idea what the squares say, so assumed that they were different. Thanks for pointing that out.
And my apologies to Ko Htike. I do appreciate the great job he is doing. Thanks Ko Htike....you are a star!

Has anyone seen this in the Daily Mail?

Hi here is a littel support from sweden. This letter has been sent to EU And UN and the swedish government. We think about you and this is a little way to show you that we are with you in your worries and fear. this is the letter that was sent out on friday. And om this site.

OM MANI PADME HUM
With deepest compassion..
Here is my mailadress if you like to get in contact. take care.
Tindra-Annette Broström Sweden

To whom it may concern

To all of you, who were pleading for democracy in Myanmar/ Burma.

We are many in the Swedish blogosphere that would like to manifest our support for you and your peoples work towards democracy.

We are all aware of the mediareports regarding the situation in Myanmar /Burma. And the situation is escalating.

In an effort to be able to prevent and reduce the dangers of more deadly violence, we are urging you to consider what other precausions can be made. Not only from a Swedish prespective, but also from EU and United Nations, UN.

Our urgent request is that the UN and EU delegats and the Security Council strongly condem the violent acts that are taking place in Myanmar / Burma.

Out of compassion we bloggers and their readers from Sweden recomend the Myanmar /Burmes Military leaders to re-evaluate the violence.

And we Swedish bloggers and their readers of them hope that the burmese Military Governance without hesitation immidiatley will open for peaceful and a reparable dialouge. And in co-operation with its own Citizens

Our expectation is also that EU and UN are able to send several diplomatic and/ or human rights representatives as the sorrounding worlds objective witnesses in Myanmar/ Burma. Such actions we hope will indicate the democratic worlds opposition against agressive and fatal violence, that might lead to consequenses beyond imagination.

The rapid hostile development within Myanmar/ Burma demands careful and firm attention but de-escalating and human actions.

Tears of Buddha

A single voice, its echo meets two slumbering voices.

Three strong voices cries loudly, and awakes other sleeping tones of voices.

Cooperating human whispers, will eventually become a roar

A howl that silences the hunger of power and the proclaiming of war

Ko Htike,

This is to let you know that after reading the post a letter has just been deposited in the mailbox of the Myanmar embassy in Canada SPECIFICALLY demanding:

"unconditional release of 500 monks currently being detained at the centres based in Yangon Institute of Technology and General Institute of Technology (GTI)"

It is my hope that this small action somehow helps you and the monks who you are fighting for and who are suffering in Myanmar.

Ko Htike, thanks for all the info you are providing. I was working in Rangoon in the 1980's and it was bad enough then. A government vehicle picked me up from the hotel (Inya Lake) took me to the site then collected me again in the evening. The Burmese man in charge had his wife walk about 2 miles to bring him his dinner, she also brought me some too. Real nice people out there and it's a great pity what is going on now. Lets hope the World will force this junta to resign and restore Burma to a democracy. Jamo from England
