Generals and Ministers Estate in Nay-Pyi-Taw built with bomb shelters.


One of the very exclusive areas in Nay-Pyi-Taw was specially assigned for elites of Burma. Ruling Junta took that place and divided among them to build their own resident for the purpose of moving in at the time of when they are resigning from their post and interim government taking over the administration.

Their official resident will be taken over by interim government Ministers at that time but they need to stay closely each other for preparing how to cheat in forthcoming election plus U Than Shwe wants to scrutinize them closely under his watchful eyes and their families became hostages in the cruel hands of Than Shwe if and when necessary.

No matter of whatever reasons for them are behind, they all have to build their residents with own arrangement. Rich minister built his home as big as old time cinema hall and poor deputy minister built just slightly bigger than car garage. People can see different type of building coming up and that is a gauge for measuring the degree of corruption among the ministers.

All that buildings with different types and style are coming up one after another but they all built one structure in common, which in every house of big and small, “bomb shelter” was specially built and included in every house. No one knows whether it was instructed by higher authority or all owners are having six senses to protect themselves. We are wondering whether U Than Shwe instruct them to do so as he is not certain for their safety in country’s capital or purely the own initiative of the residents.
