A step closer to fall SPDC

Air Bagan to suspend Singapore flights

Mizzima News (www.mizzima.com)

October 25, 2007 - Air Bagan Limited has announced that it is temporarily suspending flights to Singapore starting November due to sanctions targeted at the airlines owned by Burmese business tycoon Tayza.

A letter signed by the airline's sales and marketing manager today said following the imposition of sanctions against the airline, Banks in Singapore have notified that "they will no longer deal with us for the time being."

"As such we are now facing some major hurdles that need to be dealt with in the next few months. In view of the above… we will temporarily be suspending operations to Singapore," the letter said.

"Our last flight to Singapore will be on November 4, 2007," the letter added.

"We are not sure when we can resume flights. And we don't know how long it will take to recover," an official of Air Bagan office in Rangoon told Mizzima,

The suspension badly affects the company as it has to refund passengers, who have booked tickets, the official added.

Though Air Bagan will suspend its flights to Singapore, the airline said it will continue to operate domestic flights.

"We are aware that the Singapore flights are impacted by sanctions but we will continue with domestic flights," said another official of the airline.

Air Bagan Limited, a private company owned by Tayza, son-in-law of Burmese junta supremo Snr Gen than Shwe, is the first to be affected by sanctions imposed against the junta for its brutal crackdown on peaceful protestors last month.

However, the letter said, "We will resume our flights once we have overcome the obstacles."

Meanwhile, sources said Tayza held a company meeting on Wednesday in Mandalay and admitted facing severe financial crisis.

"He [Tayza] said he was planning to sell two Air Bus aircrafts in order to stay afloat," the source added.

Oh... my heart aches... Spore banks won't deal with them... pass the tissues please... :-(

Hey Tayza, how about selling those planes and feed some starving people.

Or at least, it may buy enough portable toilets to the peaceful demonstrators that your father-in-law jailed.

This isn't barely a compensation what he have done for several years ago. I love to see more to come against his will.

It is good news. I am very interested to see that on the list of "frozen bank accounts" from the USA are family members of Slobodan Milosevic. You can gauge a lot from the company people keep.

It works this time. We just have to keep tracking down on everyone who is responsible for the killing, raping and torturing the peaceful protestors, since 1962.

If someone has the contact email for US President there is another sanction, "Health Treatments given to Junta".

Cruel, unfortunately innocent, ordinary poor people have to sneak and bribe their way into Thailand seeking medical services, whilst the generals jump in a copter and off they go to receive the best attention in Spore or Thailand, or wherever they choose to go...

If the generals need medical attention they are welcomed to receive it, in their own hospitals and they better pray to survive.

Today is Saturday, I'm feeling good...

I think it's a great idea. The future sanctions should include "Medical Care and Treatments given to Burmese junta AND immediate business partners AND relatives".

Look at how Soe Win went to S'pore and got treatment for his leukemia with all the money that they robbed from poor Burmese people.

We can send our "regards" to Tay Za. Here are the contact emails

I agree, propose a sanction for Medical Care and Treatments towards Burmese Junta. Hello Ko Htike, can you post that idea to other freedom fighters, and bloggers please.

Thanks Klapperx and Kyaw...

It needs to reach the US President by yesterday the better...
He is the only one pushing for sanctions the others are day dreaming...

Also does anybody know if we can send postcards to DASSK?
If so where do I post my cards please...?

I think we have several options to promote the idea of Medical Sanctions. We could try the following ways.

Done .... and I got an autoreply..
"...On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence.

....
Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House cannot respond to every message....

All I know is that he is listening...

These people become tycoons while 5 million children are starving in Burma and the rest live in poverty and fear.

A great idea about the medical sanctions, but I'm not sure all the countries who have the authority to refuse travel visa's for the Junta are willing to impose those restrictions. The USA can't dictate who Singapore or China allows through it's borders.

I think this message needs to get to the monks, people and the Tatmadaw (not the junta) in Burma

Maso Rein Sa Ya Daw Gyi's message.
