In Washington, DC:

Saturday October 6th is our global day of action for Burma. We have been working with several organizations to create hundreds of events around the world for this day.

The Burmese regime has worked hard to break communication between people inside Burma and the outside world. International media focus on the situation in Burma is beginning to fade. WE MUST KEEP UP PUBLIC PRESSURE AND ATTENTION!

There will be a large march happening this Saturday starting at 12 noon. We will begin our march at the Burmese embassy (2300 S St NW) and from there march to the Chinese embassy, and then onto the Indian embassy, where, standing in front of the Gandhi statue, we will point out the hypocrisy of the Indian government.

Here's the website for the event- spread it around: http://dcburmaprotest.org/

Thousands are still imprisoned in Burma and hundreds are dead - we cannot let the military feel that they have triumphed in their crackdown. This collective international action will work to push the UN Security Council to take necessary action on Burma.
